Not sure which exercise to try? Pulse is the perfect innovative blend of strength, yoga and interval training for you.
Set to an upbeat, fun playlist, the wide array of cardio-based moves, strength training and Pilates works your full body in a freeing, uplifting way. After a yoga cool-down at the end, participants feel rejuvenated, refreshed and replenished with positive energy.
“It’s about letting loose with yourself and not being so harsh, critical and stressed out,” said class instructor Laura Gross. “The class is geared to be a fun, uplifting full-body workout. At the end, people usually feel more content and less stressed.”
The entire workout is done with a yoga mat and no other equipment – save for a few exceptions – and completely barefoot! A typical class goes through a packed cycle of high-intensity cardio, strength training, Pilates, deep stretching and yoga.
“As a yoga instructor, I choose to incorporate a lot more stretching than other cardio-based classes,” said Gross. “I want participants to feel the effects of their exercise, inspire them and let everything sink into their body – that’s what differentiates this class from others. And the being barefoot makes it fun!”
Participants can expect a full-body workout with a multitude of simple – yet intensive exercises. And the cherry on top is the emphasis on yoga and deep stretching.
Pulse takes place every Monday at 12 p.m. in the Farber Fitness Rooms. For more information, visit www.asirecreation.org/group-fitness .
