Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Employee Training and Safety Coordinator Jesse Avella frequently uses the SRWC for his own personal health and has seen major benefits in his lifestyle.
“I love everything about the SRWC!” exclaimed Avella. “The environment is pleasant, the equipment is state-of-the-art, and it’s clean and well-kept. I use all the machines; I think they’re all practical.”
Avella has been exercising at the SRWC since he began work with ASI more than two years ago. He currently attends the SRWC twice a day, morning and evening, Monday through Thursday. Having a background in sports and the military, Avella recognizes the importance of a healthy body and a healthy mind.
“In the morning, I usually do weightlifting—not too strenuous, but I focus on two body parts per session,” said Avella. “In the afternoon I’ll try to catch up on any missing parts but I mainly focus on stretching.”
For Avella, the SRWC has offered major benefits to his health. Every other day, he checks his blood pressure in Beach Balance to maintain an understanding of how his body is doing.
“High blood pressure runs in my family, and I have a nephew that’s a doctor and tells me to check it regularly,” said Avella. “Overall, the SRWC has worked to reduce my stress. I can maintain a healthy blood pressure, it’s so close and convenient, I don’t have to fight traffic—even that in itself relaxes me!”
